Hello, my name is Stormfield Hendrix Edison, but my close friends call me Ed. I'm a Briard and I was born on 30th June 2005. I'm a big, shaggy, fluffy, blond bundle of noise and I live in a wonderful world called Wales with my very own special person who I have chosen to look after me. His name is Dad.
Anyway, the good news is that this site is all about me! So browse through it and see just how handsome and special I am. Have a look around and enjoy it - I'm worth it!
Briards have been described as "a heart of gold wrapped in fur" - a very apt description of this ancient and aristocratic breed of dog.
Briards originate from France where they were primarily herding and guard dogs. Emperors Charlemagne (8th century) and Napoleon both kept Briards and Thomas Jefferson was one of the first breeders of Briards in the USA.
Their loyalty, hardiness and intelligence led them to be used as sentry, messenger and search and rescue dogs in the World Wars, almost to the point of extinction, which is why there are so few around today.
However, a select number of humans are privileged to be allowed to work for a Briard.
